Gateway Ancestors
A GATEWAY ANCESTOR is an Immigrant Ancestor who has provable Royal Descent through the recognized genealogical standards established for that purpose. That person, then, is YOUR Gateway to Royalty. Hence, the term.
Following are three lists pertaining to Gateway Ancestors. The first is comprised of the Gateway Ancestors presently accepted by the Society as having established Royal Descent without caveats or complications.
The second list contains numerous individuals whose lineage has some expression of doubt for which we are desirous of seeing some additional documentary evidence to make the lineage more secure. These individuals are not necessarily excluded from our qualifying ancestors. Should your ancestor be on this list, it will be necessary for you to contact the Genealogist for additional guidance and information.
The third list contains those individuals for whom a Royal Descent was previously published but for whom subsequent documentary evidence has been discovered that negates that Royal Descent. These individuals, then, no longer qualify as Gateway Ancestors.
